Before we begin
A few good questions.
What does Gissell create?
Original fiber and botanical art, one-of-one commissions, and hands-on studio workshops in macramé, weaving, and botanical design.
How does a commission begin?
With a conversation. You share a space, feeling, color, or story. Gissell sketches a concept, you refine and approve it, and a deposit confirms the direction.
What materials go into the work?
Primarily organic cotton from trusted suppliers, plus materials gathered from the Tahoe landscape: driftwood, stones, seed pods, and pine.
How are the colors made?
Gissell dyes her own fibers with turmeric, indigo, cabbage, black beans, and seasonal botanicals. No synthetic dyes, ever.
How long does a commission take?
Timing varies by size and complexity. After the deposit is confirmed and materials are sourced, Gissell shares an estimated completion window.
Do I need experience for a workshop?
No. Workshops welcome all experience levels and move at an intentional pace with room to ask questions.
